v0.39 - World Gen Options, LWJGL3

A fairly light update as far as features go, but laying the ground work for next bigger biome update.

When you create a new game, there's now a World Settings popup where you can specify a seed value for the terrain-generation. (Also added "getSeed" debug console command when in-game).

Can choose from 4 different day/night cycle modes (always day, normal, long night, always night).

All versions of game now use LWJGL3 backend. Woo! Took a while to get all the kinks worked out. This fixes some issues with high-DPI screens (especially fullscreen mode being chopped off), and fixes some mouse input issues reported on the forums.

Platform specific versions are now bundled with Java 8 JRE (Azul Zulu) - except for Win32.

And some other bug fixes:

  • Game now saves build progress of base modules that are still under construction. (So no more lost resources, and should fix a few related crash issues).
  • Fixing some typos.

would like more ways to get water like an underground water table or something.

In the next version, I'm going to (hopefully) be adding in bodies of water like ponds / lakes - so trying to think of ways to allow the player to pump/collect water from those. Would they actually be drinkable water? Would it need to be cleaned somehow? Is the pump->storage flow automated?

dear creator I have a small idea that you could add if you want

my idea is that when you build something you will have to stand near it to build it and if you go away the building process will stop until you come back .

thank you for your attention

are there going to be enemies and weapons in the game?

I would like to add some hostile creatures to encounter - to make exploration a bit more hazardous. Things that you need to keep from eating your base perhaps.

And there'd need to be some sort of way to deal with them. Offensively, defensively... not sure yet :)

YAY new update! Can't wait for the next one (no offence) but hopefully the next update will be bigger :P

Agreed - a lot of testing and bug fixes to get 0.39 out, but not enough time to get much new in-game stuff for players to chew on.

Hoping to get the biome update (or at least part of it) in the next version: adding water, sand, snow areas etc.

Other half-baked features been working on in the past month: Creative Mode, enemies(?), fixing z-sorting (so that sprites are better layered and go behind each other properly when you're walking around).

A few suggestions that seem easy to add (at least for me not sure if they are though). Can you allow the drill to do the same stuff the shovel can? So when I get a drill I can get rid of my shovel. Also can you set some way to rearrange your inventory because I like having my tools set to the keys 1 and 2 and right now its annoying to get them in those slots.

well, about drill can mine iron: you won't drill dust of iron in real, you will use shovel, don't you?

I guess but still its kinda annoying that with only 10 inventory slots 2 of them have to be taken up by 2 tools

hey what about  more vehicles  and something like a space ship to get to other planets and a back pack to hold more stuff.
